Tinerhir, at the entrance of the
Todra gorges is a large and lively city, which wealth comes from
the nearby silver mines, and from its large and beautiful palm
grove. It is also possible to visit the mellah (former Jewish
neighbourhood).
The road goes on through the Todra gorges, deep between two
cliffs more than 300 metres high, the most impressive in all
Morocco. Along the road flows the Todra river, which never dries.
Out of the gorges, the very beautiful Tamtatouchtte village
is a must, with its red-ochre houses. Off-road, you can continue
towards Dades gorges, or Imilchil.
Attention : off-road ways state can change very quickly, specially
after some rains. Always take local information before leaving,
and avoid to drive with only one car.
