- The deep gorges and the valley
of Roses
|
| |
Day 1 |
Arrival and transfer in
Ouarzazate |
| |
Arrival in Ouarzazate.
We take you to the hotel. Depending on time of arrival, a dinner
is planned. |
| |
|
Day 2 |
Ouarzazate - Chigaga dunes via Foum
Zguid |
 |
The lake of Chigaga is surrounded by impressive
dunes, even more beautiful at sun rise or sunset, which is the
reason why we install the bivouac there. Before reaching the
dunes, we cross a very rocky erg, till the well-known depression
of Iriki. |
| |
|
Day 3 |
Chigaga dunes – Mezgarne Oasis |
 |
We drive along the river Draa (that goes underground,
in the sand, to appear again 800 km Westwards, and joins the
Atlantic… some years, when there is enough rain), and
its bushes among the stones, then by M’Hamid-El-Ghouzlane,
one of the doors to the desert, (its souk, on Mondays, sometimes
welcomes Tuaregs), and finally by Zagora, from where the caravans
leave to Timbuktu. To reach Mezgarne, we follow the palm grove
along the Draa valley. |
| |
|
Day 4 |
Mezgarne |
 |
The day is spent on a camel tour in the desert
of the Guir Hamada.
Camel drivers from the nearby village take you in Mezgarne to
lead them in their village, Timganine. After visiting it, you
leave for a natural oasis, and go through rocky landscapes,
and see some dunes. After a nice picnic in the shade of the
palms, you return to Mezgarne for a mint tea before sunset. |
| |
|
day 5 |
Mezgarne Oasis - Todra gorges via Jebel
Sagro |
 |
To reach Todra
gorges, we cross the wonderful landscapes where the Aït
Atta still live and abide by their millenary traditions. In
spring, and in autumn, they change pastures, moving to the desert
for the winter or to the mountains for the summer. They live
from their cattle and lambs, in an arid landscape whose beauty
is really breathtaking. Your 4*4 (SUV) will follow the tracks
formerly used by the caravans. |
| |
|
Day 6 |
Todra gorges --> Dades gorges,
via M’semrir |
 |
From one gorge to another, through the haut plateaus
tracks. We might meet Aït Hadiddou nomads, still living
between mountains and desert, their tents hung on rocky slopes.
Like Aït Atta, they face more and more difficulties to
make a living, but still warmly welcome the traveller. The vertiginous
road will show you the landscape as if you were a bird! |
| |
|
Day 7 |
Dades gorges - Ouarzazate vie Boutaghar
and the Valley of Roses |
 |
Dades valley
is full of very interesting geological sites, especially the
« monkey paws ». Further is the rose garden, cultivated
for the perfume industry. The second week-end of May, you can
attend to the famous moussem
of the Roses. If your tour takes place during this time,
you’ll appreciate the gardens full of roses, songs and
dances, and the colourful fair. |
| |
|
Day 8 |

| |
We transfer you to the airport, or to another
place if you wish to continue your trip in Morocco (possible
