Good places to visit in Jacksonville is not hard to find. This southern city is located along the St. Johns River and counts among its novelties with tourist, historical and colonial sites whose roots go back to 1564. It is a mix of modern and traditional culture, the present, and the future.

There you can find skyscrapers and great buildings in the heart of Jacksonville, shops, museums, hotels, and restaurants to suit all tastes, with typical and special foods, with places where it directly prepares beer, and you can see the process and others.

But the most striking part for tourists is undoubtedly the sea and beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the natural beauty of Big and Little Big Talbot, which are state parks; classical Mayport fishing community; the huge aircraft carriers of the Naval Station Mayport and the four coastal communities in Seminole Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach and Jacksonville Beach.

The Historic St. Augustine in Jacksonville also is the oldest European settlement in North America. It is known as the historic St. Augustine and legends dating back to 1565, year of the arrival of Don Pedro Menéndez de Aviles, its founder. Whoever arrives at Jacksonville can not ignore the traditional visit to St. Augustine.

In a horse-drawn carriage, you can tour this ancient place. You can also visit the Oldest House Museum in St. Augustine, where the Spanish colonial culture of the time mixed with the changes that have occurred over time. The González Alvarez house is visited by generations of tourists. The first houses were built of palm leaves and pieces of tables since these materials were easy to get. Then more solid constructions were made.

Several centuries ago St. Augustine became a tourist site. Hotels, antiques, trade streets, and beaches ideal for sunbathing, swimming, fishing and sailing. And there is much more to visit throughout Jacksonville. Museums, zoos, theaters, parks, sports venues and plenty of beaches.

There are also restaurants tradition, talent, and a mix of cultures to suit all tastes. From the southern fried chicken and biscuit sauce, fresh fish, sushi or barbecue.
